Take Pride Salutes Shana Baker

Shana BakerThe Take Pride in America in Southern Nevada Program congratulates Shana Baker for being named City National Bank and FOX 5’s One Class at a Time teacher of the month for October.  Baker is a 7th grade teacher at Dr. William H. "Bob" Bailey Middle School and has spearheaded student field trips to the Great Unconformity to remove litter and gain an appreciation for the area’s geology.

“We are proud of Shana and glad that she received this recognition,” said Doug Joslin, project manager of the Take Pride in America in Southern Nevada Program.  “It is because of her enthusiasm and efforts that Bailey Middle School was designated as the first Take Pride in America School in Nevada.  Shana is also responsible for helping to instill stewardship values in this generation that we hope will last a lifetime.”

Baker was nominated for the award by the school’s principal, Dr. Karen Paquette, and its P.E. teacher, Brett Underwood. The award included a $1,000 check to recognize her efforts.  Click here to read more about the award and see a photo of the award presentation.
