HOW TO LEGALLY DISPOSE OF WASTE – RESIDENTIAL
The first step to eliminating litter and dumping is to not do it ourselves. Not only will you be helping to eliminate litter and illegal dumping, but you will set an example for others to follow. Never underestimate how much you can influence and change behavior through your good example. Help spread the word and let people know that littering and dumping are not acceptable.
HOW TO LEGALLY DISPOSE OF WASTE –
Household Hazardous Waste
Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, and Unincorporated Clark County
If you live in one of these areas, you have several options to dispose of waste properly:
- Place waste and recyclables on your curb on your designated Republic Services trash pick-up days. If you have questions about a specific item you want to place at the curb, you can call Republic at 702-735-5151 (M-F 6am-7pm) or e-mail Republic Services for more information.
- You can visit a Republic Services of Southern Nevada transfer station. Transfer stations are facilities at which solid waste is transferred from collection vehicles into larger trucks for transport to the landfill. If you bring a copy of your bill and photo identification, you can use the transfer station to legally dispose of your household waste free of charge.
- If you have items you no longer need but are still serviceable, consider donating them to local charities, thrift stores, churches, or a local boy/girl scout troop. If you would like your organization and contact information included on this page, please e-mail us.
- Have a tag sale.
- Check with neighbors or people you work with to see if they could use your unwanted goods.
- Find another use for your waste and make it useful again. There are many arts and crafts projects that can turn what you might otherwise throw away into useful and beautiful items.
- Recycle when you can.
